Ochre Court and Cliff Walk

One of Newport’s first palatial summer “cottages,” Ochre Court was designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt and completed in 1892.

Ochre Court was commissioned by Ogden Goelet, and is one of the many famed mansions in Newport that served as summer residences for New York City's wealthy socialite class.

Ochre Court is the second largest mansion in Newport after The Breakers, which is nearby.

Located on historic Cliff Walk, Ochre Court is currently the main administration building of Salve Regina University, a fully accredited, independent, coeducational institution of higher learning in the arts and sciences.
