Newport is famous for its natural seaside beauty and for the magnificent mansions and gardens built there by the industrial barons of America’s Gilded Age.
The elaborate mansions along Bellevue Avenue are open to tours. But a drive along Ocean Drive will reveal spectacular sights: a rugged, rocky coastline and stunning private homes, some old, some new.
Around 1850, many wealthy Americans began building "summer cottages" along the coastline.
The result is Ocean Drive, with many public parks and miles of public shoreline access, it is one of America's most popular "drives".
Many of the mansions are owned and managed by the Preservation Society of Newport County, Rhode Island.
The Society is a non-profit educational organization accredited by the American Association of Museums and dedicated to preserving and interpreting the area’s historic architecture, landscapes and decorative arts.
The Society owns 11 historic properties—five of them National Historic Landmarks that span more than 250 years of American architectural and social development.
Great stuff by a great photographer. Thanks also for the detailed information about your pics. This is going the extra mile we so appreciate. Be well my unseen friend.
Thanks Della,
None are HDR, although a few have been manually blended in Photoshop using bracketed exposures. All were shot RAW. Thanks for taking a look.

Bill
