Alaska is America’s final frontier and we recently had a unique opportunity to explore Denali National Park and remote Hallo Bay Bear Camp in Katmai National Park. In Denali we stayed at Camp Denali located deep within Denali National Park boundaries giving us both early morning and unique access to the wilderness of Denali with incredible views of Mt. Denali (aka Mt. McKinley). At Hallo Bay we stayed at Hallo Bay Bear Camp located 120 miles by air southwest of Homer on the wild and remote Pacific Coast of the Alaskan Peninsula. This was truly a remote location 300 miles by land from the nearest road accessible only by bush plane landing on the beach at low tide.

We traveled with 7 photographers organized by Arizona Highways Magazine as a wildlife and landscape photo workshop. Our adventure took us to the land of the Grizzly Bear, Moose, Caribou, Beaver, Wolf, Bald Eagle and other iconic creatures of wild Alaska. The highlight though were the big Brown Bears that came within 25 feet of us as they fished for Salmon and we huddled together on the gravel bars of the creeks at Hallo Bay, truly a thrilling experience.\
