Some people have had problems with losing the speaker covers, they pop off when riding and are lost, I had that happen on my 2002 GL1800 so I made a retainer for them. I used black upholstery thread, it's a somewhat heavy duty thread, ran one end through the upper slot, the other end goes through the holes in the speaker grill. If one happens to pop off, it will be held by the retainer so you can pull over and re seat it, this works, as I mentioned I had it happen on my 2002 model, added the retainers, and later had one pop off, I just pulled over to the side of the road and put it back on.
