This adult male Cheeta was resting on top of a Kopje (giant rocks or boulders scattered throughout the Serengeti plain). They are a favorite site of large cats in the Serengeti, and they use these to be able to scan the sabana for potential prey, as well as a good resting place and to get shade from the sun and heat. Occasionally, female lions and other big cats will hide their young cubs among the rocks and bushes in these Kopjes.
