I was looking at my pictures from last year and saw where the Catawba Rhododendrons were in full bloom at Craggy Gardens about this time. So they should be looking pretty good this year also - right?? Well, nope. I hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville around 7:30 trying not to run over any of the bicyclist out for their morning work out. My first stop was the Craggy picnic area and the trail that leads up to the shelter and this field. Last year's picture has the row of rhodos on the left in full bloom. This year there were barely any blooms. I guess the shrubs have their good years and their bad ones.
