In my previous trips to Cataloochee, I hadn't been up the Rough Fork Trail so I headed there first. The topo map showed it to be relatively flat as it followed Rough Fork up and I was hoping for a wildflower display similar to the Big Creek Trail. The scenery was nice, but the wildflower show was disappointing. There wasn't much blooming except for some violets. Part way up the trail I spotted a few White Wake Robin - Trillium erectum. For those who don't know, trilliums have 3 leaves, 3 sepals, and 3 petals.
