PIA Fokker F27: Lahore - Peshawar - Islamabad (Jan '06)

I flew the Fokker after a long time, and I guess it was the last time I'll ever fly the Fokker F27, because all the PIA Fokker aircraft have been grounded after the unfortunate incident at Multan in July 2006.

Sorry, I don't have many pics from other airports; only a few from Peshawar and Quetta. About the Fokkers, you can't replace them with Airbus aircraft; there were several airports where even the smallest Boeing (B737) couldn't go, e.g. Chitral, Saidu Sharif (Swat), Gilgit and many more in other parts of Pakistan. Those are now being served by military C-130 aircraft which have a much worse interior than the civil airliner Fokkers, and many C-130 aircraft are older than Fokkers, "older" doesn't mean "unsafe"!!

hi lovely syt if u dont mind but to say have u ever taken pictures of airports in side excapt lahore or karachi but other airports in pakistan once again great site and the fokkers are grounded because tats a good thing we should have the airbus

Thanks Ray for the comment and the vote, the Fokkers deserved a better farewell, they were the only aircraft that Chitral, Saidu Sharif and Gilgit could accomodate (among many other small airports in lower Pakistan). Especially in winter, it was the only mode of transport for the Northern Pakistan (Chitral, Saidu Sharif / Swat, Gilgit, Skardu) because the roads are often blocked by snow for days or even weeks.
