In native habitat they live much like beavers except they do
not build dams. They build a lodge of cattails, but here it
is brackish water and cattails do not grow. They can also live
in burrows excavated in the bank at water's edge. I assume
that is what this one is doing in this barely native habitat
bisected by a dike with a busy, dangerous thoroughfare.
