Thanks for the ego boost Tad!
yes, I was up north, but am back. this place will always be home.
my Father's studio and our home and the birth place of my brother was the sidewalk cafe. I have many beautiful photos of that period as some many people do.
I am surprised to see me hanging with some of the crew. there were a few guys I was and am close too, but for the most part I stayed out of that whole scene.
I still surf and love it more than ever.
thanks for another great trip down memory lane.....whoever you are!
by the way, that is Whipple.

That is in fact April Newman. She was without a doubt the best young woman surfer in the area. Her father is the unbelievably talented Earl Newman. He was the painter that created the famous Either Or book Store poster. He also painted the posters for the Montery Jazz Festivals. I think April is a furniture builder up north.

I love this pic, it really evokes those days we spent at the wall.....
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou, J Crosby ( I must admit that I have no ideas who you are, but then, I never knew last names [and afterall, you may have no idea of who I am either!] ) ....
I've been kicking myself for a while for not having the sense to take a picture of April, and now it turns out that I did, but forgot! If my memory is correct, she was one of the few girl surfers in Venice at the time, and she surfed well ( a LOT better than me, that's for sure!) I had sent an email to the women at RockerBoardShop to let them know about the site, and I mentioned April as a pioneer, but had no picture to go with the memory, so thanks for remembering and filling us all in!
I'll see if I can find some pictures of Kelly's brother Sam, a very talenterd character actor who unfortunately died in 2002 [ http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0924196/ ]
