Fire Spout

One of the coolest parts of working in the Research & Development department at the House of Fire is that the powers that be encourage us to take work home. After all it allows us to experience first hand what its like to install the product and when that's done you spend hours looking at it thinking of how it could be better.

Case in point, the Tempest Torch. A few of us had the idea of making a fire tornado, mine required a blower and was quite crude back in 1999. A brilliant engineer and coworker named Russ McBrien in his free time figured out how to use the drafting effect of a hot fire along with the positioning of ceramic glass to create nothing short of art. No external power required.

The still image does this torch no justice as it looks just like a 20 to 24 inch tall fire tornado!
