Getting More Nudist Youth Involved in Nudism:
Naturist Youth - If you have never heard of the show, it is a monthly podcast by Stephane Deschenes, owner of Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in Ontario, Canada. Yet, in the world of nudism, Stephane is ahead of the game because he's got the only fkk podcast in the world right now and a large following to boot.
So what you hear in the show is Stephane first sharing his ideas on how nudist clubs, groups, etc. can draw in more nudist youth. Then there's an inter view with me, followed by an interview with Jess of the website Naked Vegan Cooking. If you need some suggestions or guidance on attracting youth to nudism, listen to this podcast. Stephane understands what he's doing. Bare Oaks is known for its youthful visitors, members and staff, and seemingly they had hundreds of visitors under age 35 this past summer. It is also one of the few clubs in North America that offers a discount rate to young adults (age 25 and below).
Stephane makes several good points, and I simply need to quote him on one that I think gets overlooked. He says that a vital part of bringing young people is having a "strong naturist doctrine." He says:
"I believe you've got to be quite idealistic, I think you've got to be an ethical naturistbecause when you're young is when you're at your most idealistic. That's when you're most involved in causes. That is when a message of health and social justice and having a better world generally in terms of body acceptance and getting along together. That message rings more accurate when you're younger"
Nudist Youth
I think about my 24-year old self and how I desire to save earth. So, yeah. This is absolutely accurate. Give them a good motive or cause to get nude, and make way for naked youth on bicycles!
As FKK, we've got this part covered. Actually it goes back to why we started FKK to begin with, because nudism to us is undoubtedly about considerably more than simply getting naked. At its center, we believe the naturist movement should be about approval, as Stephane quotes us on. It's what makes us body positive and sex-positive! We've got a set of ideals and causes we care about and fight for. While I believe there are people who just need to get nude (or see nude people possibly), I definitely agree with Stephane on this point, that it's an important feature to consider when trying to attract youth to the naturist movement.

In the segment with Jess, I think it is worth noting that his blog is run by a group of young adults who are not just about cooking naked, but also work to encourage body positivity, wellness and knowledge of issues they care about. It is also interesting to note that although Jess participates in social nudity, he wouldn't label himself a fkk or naturist. He has never visited a nudist club, nor does he think such places are related to his practice of social nudity. He mentions there are many young people who try social nudism without thinking about it in fkk terms. We notice this trend ourselves just in the amounts of people who have not visited any fkk club before attending a FKK gathering.
Things to ponder!

Is having a dominant, defined naturist doctrine an important part of engaging young people in nudism? Does a deficiency of one lead to a deficiency of interest in seeing fkk clubs, resorts or attending nudist group occasions?
