From the third article inside the series for the "miracle" and the "mind," we will bring kindness and unkindness in to the discussion about specialness. Within a Course in Miracles (ACIM), kindness is associated with humility and learning and unkindness is to use arrogance and specialness. The miracle-minded obviously choose humility, learning and kindness this means they are going to eventually figure out how to forgive all specialness which is what maintains the separation from God. Belief in separation refers to everyone who is the One Son perceiving Himself as separate and various fragments. All unkindness is a result of the anxiety from the mind when we repress our fear and guilt as an alternative to forgiving our specialness desires. We blame and project it onto other individuals who are really an element of us in reality.

There are 2 books by Kenneth Wapnick on, "The Healing Strength of Kindness." Volume 1 is on, "Releasing Judgment" and Volume 2 on, "Forgiving Our Limitations." In my opinion, these ought to be required reading and recurring study if you're a serious Course student. These passage says everything:

Once you set aside the brilliant metaphysics of an Course in Miracles along with its sophisticated psychological insights, this course could be pared down to one particular rule: Be kind. Discover kind, then not only are you currently not practicing the program, it's impossible you can even commence to understand it. Regardless how brilliant your understanding of their metaphysics could be, discover being kind toward someone else, you are not doing what this product is asking (The Healing Power Kindness, Vol.1: Releasing Judgment by Kenneth Wapnick, p. 10, underline mine).

Despite this admonition, we require being unkind:

This being unable to truly practice A Course in Miracles' kind principles of forgiveness they study, and occasionally teach, has perhaps been one of the most serious failing among its students. This book's sequel, "Few Elect to Listen," discusses how students often conceal their thought system of specialness underneath the guise of spiritual counseling or friendship. The possible lack of simple kindness is, unfortunately, unmistakable to all except the Course student making the spiritual pronouncements (The content Of the Course in Miracles: Each one is Called, p. 306).

The non-dualistic specification of kindness can't be understood here inside the connection with dualism providing that specialness is continuously chosen for the reason that ego originates from an unkind thought against God and Heaven. Our unwillingness to recognize this regarding the ego, as well as what all that thought product is capable of singing, is one thing that hinders our progress with the Course. We have to be ready to check out the ego with all the Holy Spirit - the true Teacher - and take that darkness to Him for forgiveness. Nothing can be hidden and that's right out the Course.

Kindness To other people Is Kindness To Self

In the books on kindness, Mr. Wapnick also references the foundation of an person's unkind behavior is the identical fear (and repressed guilt) that is certainly in our own mind and that's what unites us. We've got exactly the same right-mind and also the same capability to select from them. Determining to be kind does not make us different or better; rather this means we are prepared to practice the "kind principles" in the Course to ensure we are able to figure out how to understand everything it is teaching. It's just a question of priority.

He proceeds to say that to learn the best way to be kind towards others, we have been practicing being kind toward ourselves because, "you along with your brother are certainly one. These are part of you. You aren't different." Which i mentioned above straight away to the center of the ego's thought system wherein the idea of difference is the place the ego began - God with his fantastic Son were separate and different - and undoes it. Perhaps the slightest hint of specialness may be the ego. What he or she is saying becomes clear in the event you actually study and use what type forgiveness in the Course!

A critical student of the Course would like to determine what what this means is. These students would rather be described as a happy learner with the only true teacher - the Holy Spirit - as opposed to a spiritually special teacher from the ego in any form. They're pleased to study from Him how you can be clear of the burdens related to denying reality:

Forgiveness' kindness is obscure at first, because salvation is not understood, nor truly sought for (S-2.I.1). And here you'll lie down the burden of denying truth. This can be the burden that is certainly terrible, rather than the reality (T-21-VI.7).

Self versus "self" -or- Identity versus "identity"

Inside the Course, there's a distinction between the "Self" which can be our true Identity as Christ and the "self" identity with the ego. This is the a key point to know since the first accepts the function God gave us through being God-created; nevertheless the latter is self-created and completely dependent on the ego along with its purpose of vengeance and maintaining separation. Everyone already believes these are ego. We wouldn't be here otherwise. To consider the possibly of the being correct along with need of correction restores hope to your head as it points to just how out.

Each time a spiritually special Course teacher (a form of unhealed healer) teaches specialness with the ego, they're being unkind towards others thereby themselves although they are highly unlikely to watch it like that. They're also improbable to believe it is kind for somebody to possess boundaries with these because their fear and guilt (and anxiety) are so great. However, honestly going through the world, we percieve that it is stuffed with the fragmented Sonship that's anxiety-ridden from identifying with the ego self. Unkindness is rampant on earth plus in the Course community. As Wapnick states though, we will not educate yourself on the Course until we decide being kind.

Our behaviors are the demonstration of which mind we now have chosen (God or the ego). The ego can be a vengeful and tyrannical thought system of unkindnesses whereas freedom as a result is tied right to kindness:

Without anxiety your head is wholly kind (T-6.III.3).
Freedom can't be learned by tyranny of any type (T-8.IV.7).

It is also unkind to improve the Course and spiritual specialness does that through competition with God and therefore everyone. One small change effectually changes the whole lot with the Course, a complete thought system. If you think maybe you already know that, you don't. Once you know you are doing, you'll automatically be kind available for you view the inherent value kindness plays in mastering and knowing the Course. As Wapnick states, "It's an issue of priority."

When Kindness Calls

In summary, let's turn back now to Mr. Wapnick and his book, "The Message Of A Course In Miracles: Few Decide to Listen," and to Chapters 4 and 6 on spiritual specialness. I'll highlight some important passages you start with an extremely telling quote. First, however, allow me to add this two-book set (including, "Few Decide to Listen") should be required ongoing study for serious Course students:

"Love is frightening which is all-encompassing and inside there isn't any room for specialness or individual uniqueness."

He proceeds to point out any time we are influenced to call awareness of our thoughts is some deficiency, or lack, were trying to make such limitation real and into something that divides the Sonship. The rock of salvation is that no one can lose so another gains, i.e., you'll find nothing to consider from another, not really their success. However, and we don't understand this until a year the required time invested in learning that these particular words are really correct as well as their true meaning. What our bodies appear to be doing informs us which internal teacher we've chosen - the ego or perhaps the Holy Spirit. The ego is limitations, judgment, specialness and separation - the the complete opposite of the Sonship as One.

While we are not kind, we are not Course students or teachers of God (the program as our path). When kindness calls, it needs to be chosen as kindness brings about miracle-mindedness. Unkindness is from the ego.
