| It has been a hard year for VCS players and fans alike. The Vietnamese region missed out on Worlds 2020, most recently MSI 2021, and is reported to miss Worlds 2021. Though these rumors have been swirling for some time, a recent report by TheThao.vn alleged that this will be the case. Vietnam has had a very difficult time lifting travel restrictions amidst the global pandemic. When Worlds 2021 was set in China, there was hope that VCS would make its first international competition in a year. Riot Games’ last minute decision to move Worlds from China to Europe seemingly sealed the VCS’ fate. Vietnam missed MSI 2021 due to 메이저사이트 their inability to enter Europe. The decision to move the location of Worlds came after LCS teams and production crews struggled to secure visas to enter China. Riot Games was seemingly in a bind, and made the decision to give the most amount of teams the chance to attend Worlds, even if that meant others would ultimately miss out. The VCS’ original plan, after canceling their entire Summer Split, was still to send their top two teams to Worlds. According to TheThao.vn, neither GAM Esports or Saigon Buffalos will be making it to Europe. In this online era of esports, the VCS has undoubtedly suffered the most in League of Legends. The once prolific region known for wildcard picks and major upsets only continues to stagnate. This rumor has yet to be confirmed by Riot Games or the VCS, however sources only seem to strengthen this claim. |
