Dragon Boat Races

Sheboygan, WI

We went to Sheboygan for lunch overlooking Lake Michigan. After lunch we took in some Dragon Boat races. The sun was really harsh, but I could not resist a few pics.

This has a real summer feel to it, great colours.

I love the colors and feeling of action!. It would have been interesting
to also take a similar shot with a digital - just for comparison. I do note
that digital seems to lack latitude.

Excellent - this has caught on in UK too. A great fun that can be enjoyed by novices and pros alike

Michael, Ektar is the bees knees for sunny days. Digital never could have captured this dynamic range.

Great colorful sporting shot..the image doesn't llook this way without the gorgeous look of that Ektar..
Beautifully timed, Cindy.

I've never seen it before, but there were many teams present, so it must be popular. They were started by a pistol and then they rowed to the end in competition. They came back (not racing) and then raced one more heat. You can see the drummer on the closest boat. The drummer sets the cadence for the oarsman with a very loud beat. The sweep in the rear steers. There is someone in the bow who tucks down in the dragon head (must be for weight.)

Most interesting shot Cindy.
l've seen the Maoris in NZ race in dugout canoes, but never quite like this.
You handled the light exceptionally well.

Brave shooting in that bright light but good results anyway.
