I have to agree, I think this is my favorite - the subtle lighting, shadows, fallen
leaves, and canons really set a sad and melancholy mood that seems very appropriate.

Michael,
This is my favorite of all of your Shiloh photos. They just keep getting better and better. I bet you could put together a wonderful calendar or book of Shiloh photos.

The thumbnail of this is an eyecatcher, the full size is a master stroke on composition
Specially the shadows spreading out towards the viewer.

Looking at this now peaceful scene.
It is hard to imagine the noise and screams that once took place here.
Beautiful work as usual Michael.

Awesome Image Michael! I know when I go to Antietam at dawn.
The hair on the back of nck stands on end. These places have
alot of lost souls wandering around them. You never feel totally
alone.

I have to agree with Hal... I can only imagine what it must have
been like to be on that field with those guns firing and all of the
other chaos around me. This shot puts me in that space.

Michael, you have shown us many wonderful photographs of the battle at Shiloh,
but in a way, this one is the most chilling, with the guns aimed at soldiers from
from one's own country.
Very skillfully photographed into the sun,
and with your trademark beautiful shadows. A very moving image indeed.
