The Meeting

Bryce Canyon, Utah

The sun was just starting to peek around the corner. This looked like a meeting of Hoodoos to me.
Taken on our trip to Bryce Canyon National Park last fall and processed today.

Thanks for commenting Steve, Terry and Michael.
Michael, This article explains it: http://www.nps.gov/brca/naturescience/hoodoos.htm
Basically, western Utah was under water 30-40 million years ago and as things settled to the bottom, different minerals were deposited in layers. Now Mother Nature is whittling away with 200 freeze/thaws a year and acidic rainfall. She is quite artistic. The photo of the Bryce Amphitheater from the other day shows the different colors from different minerals.

Cindy, this is so fine!
Are those mineral deposits on the tops?
I am impressed with the quality here in low light.

This is fantastic, Cindy. I have never seen the white Hoodoos. Great
eye, and wonderful imagination!

Nice find Cindy. These indeed look man made.

Hal, I was writing at the same time as you were. LOL We had slightly different interpretations. I appreciate your comments.

Thanks, Bob. I see it as the elder on the right speaking to the hoodoos. The woman and child on the left have turned around to look for her husband. She is clutching her hand to her heart. Down below another elder is walking by. That may be a space ship up in the left hand corner. ;-)
Isn't it amazing that Mother Nature has carved these over time? It is truly a wonder.

This is amazing Cindy. Particularly the one on the left, a man with
a 17th century head-dress. Also a beard, shoulders and arm bent at the elbow.
The lighting that you captured accentuates this. Also the bearded man on the
extreme right. A wonderful and well timed photograph

Nicely seen and rendered. These formations are
fascinating... the more I look at them the more I
see.
