Traveling to and being on White Island tourists must be with special tour operators from the company that owns the island. We were issued hard hats and masks. The fumes are poisonous. We had to follow practically in the guide's footsteps because there were hot spots all around. We were not allowed to wonder out of sight. It is a very active volcanic area. Warren ought to have been wearing both mask and hard hat. The guide was lenient with Warren vis a vis the perils he was supposed to protect him from. There was only one other person who came with us on the helicopter. The three of us were the only tourists on the island that morning. The helicopter stands ready to leave immediately if necessary.
