Death on the beach

Jersey

Dying dogfish. The local fishermen call these fish
the rats of the sea but I felt sorry for them. They
washed up on our pebbled beaches en masse and there
was no eco- or biological reason for that. We tried
to push them back into the surf but they seemed
destined to wash up on the shore and die. Thankfully
this does not happen very often but every year, when
it does, I feel sad and helpless.

This is a sad moment but a beautiful image. These dogfish will remain in people's head long after the surviving brothers and sisters will have parished. I also love the use of teh hassleblad frame as part of the presentation. This is very strong work.
