The pattern on the bricks twist the eye into contortions, much as the man's abstracted and twisted body in the light at the end of the tunnel. This could be a terrific editorial illustration, just as the roller coaster image that follows it. There is light at the end of the tunnel, to be sure, but metaphorically, the man seems to be under considerable stress. There are many editorial subjects that could work well with this theme. Wonderfully expressive image, Carol.

This is stunning! There is such tension in this image - I think it is a function of the light, the gesture, the lines leading us to the runner and the fact that he is centered! In a funny way the graffiti also adds a dimension to the image.
