Sentinal (IR)
by

Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, KY

Another Infrared image taken with the Nikon D50 and Hoya R72 filter. Darkened areas around the frame of the photo was added in PP. Taken with custom WB and red and blue channels swapped. I left the tilt and lean in the monuments to maintain their charm.

It's been a long time since I've been to the STF since I've moved to Nikon. I sure do miss the well organized challenges. I think it's an excellent way to share and network. Cheers to all!

Joseph Levy's work actually inspired me to get into Infrared a little deeper. The best of his results come from using the 717 (which is one of the best IR tools out there). I purchased an 828 and used it quite a bit for infrared. But the more I looked into it I found that I could get much better false color images from the new Nikon cameras. ... plus I really wanted to get started using pro DSLR stuff. I was amazed at the results. I've since worked on my composition, exposure and post processing to get even better results than these. ... but they don't fit the theme! hahaha.

I appreciate your comments and the time you took to post a link to Mr. Levy's work. Yes, I'm well aware. It's very nice stuff indeed.

... now ...

You want to check out some REALLY cool IR stuff? Here you go:

I hope I'm spelling this correctly as it's from memory.

Joey, this image shows lots of very old gravestones and I really like your IR work here. I also like the way you included the beautiful stone in the foreground, it sure enhances the depth perception of the viewer. Have you ever seen any of Joseph Levy's work? If interested, check it out athttp://www.pbase.com/catson/infrared_world He even includes a link to his workflow.
