Stilt-legged Fly, Scipopus sp. (Micropezidae: Taeniapterinae)

Tiputini Forest Reserve, Prov. Orellana, Ecuador

Larvae of Scipopus species develop in decaying wood. The black, red-headed adults are distinctive. This female has a phoretic pseudoscorpion clamped to her left fore leg.
