Tempe Town Lake

Tempe Town Lake

This is a panoramic of 7 discrete images. Each image is a result of a four 2 second exposures that are stacked to minimize noise. The trick is to take the pictures (2 second mirror lockup, 2 second exposure, 2 second noise reduction * 4 is about 30 seconds * 7 is about 3.5 minutes) before the light changes too much. Much level editing had to be done to adjust for the changing light.

Gee, and I return a year later. I thought I found a new gallery! Checking out your newer stuff. Keep up the great work!

The shot was at f8 as you suspect. The 1D, while a great camera for things that move fast, is not the ideal landscape/long shutter speed camera. In fact, it is a very bad choice if you like long exposures as noise (especially in the heat of AZ) adds up very quickly. But then again, I like noise free images to start from.

F1.8??? Woah! From the looks of it, it looks like you're at F8 or F11. I find it humorous that you're struggling with noise on a 1D. Nice photo.
