Within the Superstition Wilderness is a great trail head called First Water and it is makes for great hike after a good rain. The entire area opens up with hundreds of small springs like this one. Hidden away behind a series of trees and shrubs, this spring was flowing at about 1 gallon/minute. Not a gusher, but this is a desert. It formed this small drinking hole about 12" deep and 8 feet across. It was a very pleasant place to just sit and think.
Like most of my shots that day, the light was very flat and simply had no contrast with color. Taken to black and white, however, the subtle colors presented lots of contrast.
