There is a family of Great Horned Owls that are nesting in the area. We have visited a couple of times, but it wasn't until this most recent visit that we discovered that there was not one but two babies. There is also a family of Coopers Hawks nearby that are competing with the owls for territorial rights. This makes for quite a stressful time for both families. The owlets are yet unable to fly, so the parents keep a watchful eye on them.
