Wanda's Turn Signal 06_05_06.jpg

I really wasn't going to do a picture today. Wanda wanted to go for a ride and she likes me to just drive along and check her speed and miles traveled. I tossed the camera into the car just in case. I took this photo just as she was about to turn on the road to head up the hill to our home.

Some how it kind of worked for me. I like it.

Dear Verymarried,

Thanks for the good luck wishes on the ride. . . I don't think I'll need good luck though, , , I am confident that I can make the 60 miles, even if I have to do the last 20 on My knees pushing the bike! what I NEED good luck wishes with is in making My fundraising goal. I had a very discouraging day today. (frowny lil face) Most of My requests were rejected, however I did have some success and a handful of very wonderful people were happy to sponsor Me and make a donation. Now I just have to figure out what on earth I need to do to get those last few donations to reach My goal.

As always, a great picture. As much as I would like to limit the comment to "as always when Wanda is the model, a great picture" but I can't. Your work is just too damned good Bill. By the way, let me know if you need some help after the ride. I suspect that after 60 miles on a bike, having only one pair of hands won't be enough to rub out all of the aches and pains (lol) Seriously though, good luck on your ride Wanda.

Wanda,
I don't even know where to start about the "tender places" other than to say it was nearly a week before things were back to normal. :-) Near the end of the ride I was tipping to one side or another to try to get comfortable. I am just an average rider that was in the middle of the pack. If you like cycling (you already have the clothes and a great bike, I have the same one :-) get shoes with clips, you will love the difference.
Have a great time,
Debbie

Debbie,

thanks for the encouragement. I am sure My ability level will keep Me near the back of the pack, and that's just fine with Me! That way I will have someone to follow and I wont get lost. (laffin) And if I take a wrong turn on the course, I will be able to blame the riders I was following. (grin)

Lake Tahoe! wow, now that sounds a lot prettier than Brigham City! Oh, and I am not a serious enough cyclist to have those nifty clip on shoes. . .yet. . .. for now I am happy with My road shoes and toe straps, and I DO have the habit of pulling My foot out of the strap before I try to get off the bike! (laffin)

Only 3 and half days to go! (feeling My tender places getting saddle sore even as I think about 60 miles on My bike)(cringe)

Wanda,
Don't be nervous, it will be fine. The riders will be quite spread out depending on riding ability and fitness. I did a 72 mile with 3500 riders around Lake Tahoe Last year. The only busy places were the rest stops. Just don't forget to clip out when you stop! :-) I have been laid out in the road a least one time a season.

Every time I see one of your pictures with that 70-200 lens I want to rush right out and get one!! Good stuff, Bill. And, Wanda...good luck in the bike ride.

Jim,

Thanks for the "good luck" wishes for Saturday's ride. I am getting kind of nervous as the day approaches. I even had an anxiety dream last night about it. I have never ridden with a whole bunch of other cyclists before (over 500 are expected to show up) and I am scared to death I am going to end up on the side of the road in a tangled heap. (cringing at the thought) Thankfully though, this is NOT a race and so I don't think I'll have to worry too much about speed being a factor. Maybe I'll just hang at the back of the pack in My own little comfort zone.

Oh, and I just wanted to say a HUGE "thank you" to all of you viewers who have been so kind and willing to sponsor Me by making a donation. It really warms My heart every time I see a new name show up on the "honor roll" of sponsors, especially when it's someone I don't even know and have never met. It renews My faith in mankind. THANK YOU! (blue eyes twinkling with a very happy shine)

Nah ... I was stopped and waiting for her to catch up when I took the photograph.

Sounds like a dangerous thing to do, glad you didn't run Wanda over.

An over-all beautiful image.

With the reflection its hard to tell if that's a turn signal or she's flipping you the bird..... I mean telling you your #1. I love the golden hour color's, they almost make it seem like Fall, but I'm not ready for that, so ready for Summer.

Wanda Good Luck on your ride Saturday.
