Wanda 08_14_09.jpg

Here is a more traditional Wanda image. We shot this using natural light.

This image was taken just special for our friend Craig and the men serving with him in Iraq and Afganistan who always want to see Wanda's blue eyes. The "cartouche" Wanda is wearing was sent to her by them as a gift of appreciation. According to them, the images of Wanda and other posted here on pbase brightened their days.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

Bill and Wanda you guys are the best... Wanda is wearing the golden cartouche. In Egyptian hieroglyphs, a cartouche is an oblong enclosure with a horizontal line at one end, indicating that the text enclosed is a royal name, coming into use during the beginning of the Fourth Dynasty under Pharaoh Sneferu. The Ancient Egyptian word for it was shenu, and it was essentially an expanded shen ring. In Demotic, the cartouche was reduced to a pair of parentheses and a vertical line. Wanda your part of the PBase Dynasty.. They guys here in the Tora Bora Mountains of Afghanistan appreciate your photo's. Also the great guys behind the camera Bill.. Cheer you all

Wanda, try 'Arctic Blonde', that's how a friend of mine describes her hair.

After serving in the Marines for almost 8 years, I know personally how much pictures such as yours, can raise the spirit. Knowing that it was taken, with them in mind, can do wonders for their out look, make them feel like home, even if it's for a moment ---

I salute you...

Wanda, thanks for reminding the men and women fighting for us in Iraq and Afghanistan about the beauty of life. Just remind them to cover the pictures of you with a burkha if any locals happen to be in the area :-) As for your gray hairs, to be honest I didn't notice them. You and my wife must share genetics. She's 54 and has never colored her hair, but you can count the number of grays on her head on two hands.

I like how you can see my gray hairs starting to come in. I've never colored my hair and I don't think I'll bother to start now. I have decided that I have hair the color of precious metals. . . platinum, gold and now SILVER! I wont use the word "gray" anymore. (GRIN)
