Tumamoc Hill is a popular hiking spot here in Tucson. While the road is fully paved, it is very steep and you get a great workout going up and down it, about 1.5miles each way. I have been doing this almost weekly for over 5 years now, with a small group of retired folks from where I work- I am the only one not retired. The week that I took this we had seen a 4' Rattle snake lazily crossing the road (a 1st) and on this outing I saw a Gila Monster for the 1st time. We often see deer- they know they are safe and don't spook very easily. This was the 1st time that I brought my tripod and camera to try to capture some of the beauty of the desert that I saw on the hike the day of the rattle snake sighting, and was taken late afternoon with the sun on the right side....
