Trinidad Scorpion Peppers

Tucson, AZ

The five orange peppers are from my Trinidad Scorpion Pepper Plant's first harvest. I received a "kit" which included a few seeds and a can with some soil about a year ago, as a Christmas gift. I now have a pepper plant tree growing in my house. These guys are quite potent heatwise- the jalapeno peppers in the background have a Scoville rating of 3500 or so, while the scorpions have a rating of ~1.4 million. I think they are name scorpion due to the little "stinger" that you see on the very tip. I only use 1 to 1.5 large peppers for about 16oz of salsa...

I like how you set this up! Just one of these in 2 cups of salsa means you like is HOT. Sounds interesting! Is this plant going to keep up with you?
