4th October 2006

A photodiary PAD. My mother has been complaining for the past few years
about how the town I grew up in is taken over when the political conference
season starts up.

I haven't witnessed this for several years, but today I saw just what she meant...

The whole centre of town was barracaded off by these *huge* antiterrorist barracades.
I've never seen anything like it. They happened to be moving one of several at the
end of the road where the Leader of the Conservative Party and the opposition, David Cameron, was staying, just as I was driving past in the car.

You can just make out, mid right, the start of about 50 policeman standing in the road, and I decided against getting out of the car to take the shot...

I'm sure you would have been all right, but I would have done the same! Glad you caught this.

Great idea about not getting out of the car with a camera.
We take lots of photos of trains, and sometimes we have to deal with police that don't understand we're recording history. And there are some crazy people that just like trains.
