We had a great surprise.. a gift!
The previous July 9th had been our independence day..
This seventh day of the journey was Saturday, and there were celebrations at main square of Salta.
First, even at bad light conditions (soo shadowy) I capture this ballet. Men wear the north’s gaucho dress.
At south of my country, typical colours for poncho are white and black, but here at north, the characteristic colours are red and black.
I had mentioned before that a hero of our independence, Martin M de Güemes, armed the inhabitants here against the invaders and without any instruction,
they fought, bravely at the city, along the Humahuaca Gorge.. at all our northwest. In his name, people were called Gauchos de Güemes,
and worn like these young guys here.
The gaucho ladies, called paisana, wear these also typical dress..
Wide skirt and blouse, long dark hair in braids.. (not here as it is gala, but sometimes they also wear an apron)
