Momma hawk 6-3-6

I have been watching a hawk nest for quite a while. As the new home building approaches I worry for them. Tonight I finally got a chance to go out where they have a nest and practice with the 100-400mm. I tried to stay pretty far from the nesting tree, from Moms reaction it wasn't far enough. None of the flying shots were any good. I have to get the hang of IS.

great shot, just keep in mind if you get too close they might abandoned the nest and move away.

Looks real sharp. For flight shots you may want to leave the IS off - I've tried it both ways and still lhaven't decided which works best - some say just use mode 2 for panning with the bird.
