Graphics Challenge #47. Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the crew of
the About Graphics Software members. This week's theme is Outer Space, In
view of the space shuttle launch, we thought it would be a good idea to have an
outer space theme. So let's blast off and come up with your version of outer
space or space travel.
I'm using an image I made about a year and a half ago that I've reworked for this
challenge. When I made the original image I didn't know how to work with layers or
remove backgrounds, so it was pretty sloppy looking. I used PSE3 & PSE4 to make
this image. This is a displacement map on a face using a "desert mud" texture. I used
feathering, gaussian blur, distort, various blend modes and opacities. I changed the
color of the "desert mud" to green and put it over the girls face then ran the
eraser over her eyes and lips. I found a spaceship and an alien and added them to
the image. Searched the Internet for the word Green in different languages and
found Groen or Groeni, I think it's Dutch for Green. I named the girl Princess
Groeni and came up with the verse.
