The 74th RCT was a Regular Army unit and wore
the insignia of the WW 11 474th Infantry Regiment
which was redesignated. A blue variation of the same
patch exists which is believed to be a WW II
manufacturing error. The patch shows portions of the
original insignia worn by the three units that made
up the old 474th Infantry: The red arrowhead is for
the 1st Special Service Force, the Viking ship for the
99th Infantry Battalion, and the small scroll for Rangers.
