My caption was not meant to cause offence, merely to be descriptive and also slightly humourous...but a gentle humour; the gentleman is a worshipper, and also naked, nudie being a word used in England synonymous with naked.
If you peruse my galleries you will see similarly lighthearted captions. I have over ten thousand images in my galleries most of which are captioned. As I am sure you can appreciate, it can sometimes be tricky to find new and interesting ways to describe these images. There have been times when people have objected to captions I have used, which I have then changed, as I can appreciate that my humour may have caused offence...but this is not one of those occasions.
However, I had not previously noticed the comment left by "guest". At the time it was left, I was still travelling in India, uploading numerous photographs each week, and attracting a large number of comments. Any comments that I found to be offensive, I removed; this one obviously slipped through the net, and I apologise for that. I accept that the comment is offensive, and have now removed it.
I understand and respect the theory behind Jainism, and appreciate why the sky clad Jains choose to live without clothes, travel on foot, clear their paths with brushes, deny possessions and so forth. Personally I consider this way of life so mind-bogglingly difficult, that it makes me respect those who choose this lifestyle even more - such dedication to their beliefs!
I am a Buddhist, and as such I accept all other religions as differing view on the one same truth. If I offended you, Jayaraj, I apologise.
Seeing those captions for the images of this gallery and also a comment of the guest, shows ignorance. These men of are followers of jainism started by Gomatestwara[ the big statue]. He was a ruler of a province and had a dispute with his brother over sharing of kinship. He quiet everything and stood on the hill in this form to denounce earthly bondage. His followers like this naked man will not have anything to call his own, forget the cloths too. they dont use modern method of transportation for travelling They travel through out India by foot. They acecpt food from only jain communities. These naked men do not have any controversies of allegations till date. They are beyond worldly pleasures. I can go on, on this. With all this I dont belong to jainism. But I respect them.
