Standing on the levee in Montz, Louisiana, these boys are casting for fish brought in by the rising River. The Spillway locks are in the background with the swollen Mississippi River almost up to the trestle. Much of this part of the locks has not been opened yet.
I'm a local and I can't wait for the water to go down. Those guys have the right idea because once that water goes down, castnet fishing is going to bring in a whole bunch of fish. Catching the fish that will be trapped in the ponds will make for a nice day. Also, I suspect that there will be plenty of folks crawfishing in the spillway next year. Should be a bountiful crawfish season thanks to all the river water. Excellent pictures.
