As each needle is pulled up it is laid across the Spillway structure.
Though this photo makes it seem easy, this is a very dangerous job for the workers. One slip could put them into the River and the swift, heavy current.
As the needles were pulled and the River rushed into the Spillway, logs and fish came with it. Huge fish were seen tumbling as the water came through the locks to the Spillway below.
