LaBranche Plantation

St. Rose, Louisiana

My Tante Marie Perilloux Cambre owned this for about 40 years beginning in the early 1900's. She sold a plantation in Montz that she inherited from my paternal grandfather because her husband wanted to buy this one. The main house burned down one night and this is all that is left. I went into the attic and it still has that wonderful old cypress smell that all the old houses have.
It is no longer in our family and is opened to tourists.

My family were sharecroppers in the 1800's. The LaBranche's. We lost the rights to this home. It's nice they kept it up. But a dependency house. Wo!!! Insulting.

It musta been a warm wonderful visit for you ~ Nice to know it won't go into disrepair because of careless owners ~ Nice image, Coleen ~ One to be framed in your home, I imagine 8^)
