Well shadowed by his security team, he and Camilla Bowles came to New Orleans and toured the devastation of the flooding following Hurricane Katrina. They seemed deeply concerned and were friendly and cordial to everyone. Prince Charles walked the line of people waiting to see him and shook hands and spoke to everyone.

People have the impression that we have Carnival (Mardi Gras) year round in New Orleans. We do not. Our carnival season opens on Twelfth Night, January 6 and continues until Ash Wednesday. Our Mardi Gras parades begin 10 days before Ash Wednesday.
