Blue Ribbon and Rosette for Best Mass Arrangement - 2005

New Orleans, Louisiana

The New Orleans Museum of Art sponsors Art in Bloom each spring and over 500 people participate in interpreting paintings and sculpture in flowers. There is a competitive section which I have entered every year.
This painting, "Woman with Writing on Hands" was assigned to me and I had to interpret it in a flower arrangement. When I left home with my flowers I had a totally different design in mind, but saw some dock (the red stuff that looks like fingers) along the interstate and stopped and cut it to use so when I put together my arrangement design it became a mass arrangement. It won a blue ribbon and an award for Best Mass Arrangement.

Fantastic Coleen. I bet you have lots of fun too. Congrats on that blue ribbon. It's been years sense I've won a prize for something.
That picture is very demanding of my attention. She looks so serious yet, she is content in her presentation.
Remarkable job Coleen. GMV!

You are so talented. This is a gorgeous arrangement, showing the same sense of design and balance as your photos do. They, by the way, deserve blue ribbons as well.
