July 2, 2019--opened 100 days so far this year

In 2019 the Spillway has been opened longer than ever in its history. And, forecasters say it is not done yet.
The River water flowing into Lake Pontchartrain, then into other tributaries, is being blamed for algae blooms, death of fish and oysters and the demise of the oyster beds. It was built to protect the City of New Orleans and is accomplishing its mission, but the water is wreaking havoc on so much more.

I wonder the future hold for the city. When will the limit be reached for what man-made structures can do .

Wow. And I thought we were having a lot of rain. A somber scene and a great photojournalist photo. V.

It sure has been a rainy year east of the Mississippi and all that run off. I am watching our soil heading south to add to the delta up here.
