Unusual River Rise for the Month of July 2015

Bonnet Carre' Spillway

With the River gauge at almost 21 feet (Spillway floodgates were opened at 22 feet in 2011) the water is pouring in to the Spillway through the cracks in the floodway locks. Notice the difference in the height of the River on left to the Spillway grounds on right.
Never in all my life has the River been this high in July. A hurricane at this time would be a thing to worry about.
The high water is drawing crowds, especially at sunset, to view the sight.

While they say we are going to have a easy season it only takes one in the wrong place. Like Betsy in 65.

An other lovely sunset image. Hope the water does not rise to the danger level.
