Water Still Pouring into Bonnet Carre' Spillway

Bonnet Carre' Spillway - Louisiana

The gauge on the Spillway structure is four inches higher than it was the day the Spillway was opened on May 9.
Standing near the structure and on the nearby levee is like standing in front of the refrigerator with the door opened--the air is very cold.
The Spillway is doing what it was intended to do because the New Orleans gauge at Carrolton, downriver from the Spillway, has dropped one-tenth of a foot. Forecasters say it will be at least three more weeks before the river level goes down significantly at the Spillway.
I have never seen so much water pour into the Spillway for such an extended period of time with no end in sight.

...and I'm sure it has a chilling effect on the Gulf too. So much rain this Spring.

We are praying for everything to work out down there Coleen, all the levees hold and all this water gets out to the ocean!
