Rushing Water

Bonnet Carre' Spillway -Louisiana

The water of the Mississippi River is seeping through the closed locks of the Bonnet Carre' Spillway structure and is finding its way into the canals and ditches headed for Lake Pontchartrain.
On this day the Spillway gauge at the River measured 18 feet. In 2008 the Spillway was opened when the gauge measured 22 feet.
