Bayou Manchac Remains

St. Gabriel, Louisiana

Once a much wider, useful and thriving bayou, it was cut off by levees and industry and this is all that remains. The Native American Indians used it to travel between the Mississippi River and Lakes Maurepas and Pontchartrain for trading purposes.
