The American lotus fields, known in Louisiana as "Graine a' Voler" appear to be at their peak. The huge saucer leaves are lush and a beautiful blue-green with no signs of drying up. The flowers, buds and seed pods are fresh and full of honey bees. Perhaps the recent rains have helped them from frying in the summer heat.
