Gilt wood and silk

Louis Napoleon chose Amsterdam as his capital. The Town Hall on Dam Square
became his Royal Palace. New furniture was made for the palace to accommodate
French court ceremonies. Only the chairs used by Queen Hortense and the
Crown Prince had armrests. The King's throne has been lost.
