Oregon, Storm of the Century

(March 13th 2012) - “Many residents along the coastline of Oregon awoke Tuesday morning to no power, downed trees, closed roads and as much as 4-6 inches of snow. This storm will likely go down in the record books as one of the largest coastal snowstorms in the month of March ever recorded at some locations. What is even more rare about this storm is the fact that within 12 hours bewildered coastal residents went from 50 degrees with hurricane force wind gusts to 32 degrees and 46 inches; of snow. All of this taking place just a week before the official start of spring. This is from an Oregon news item. It captures the first few days of our short week trip to Oregon. We were fortunate to see it, as it was amazing, but tough photographically. We had bags to cover the cameras but the wild wind kept whipping things around us and somehow managed to spray the sheltered lenses. It did get quite nice the last few days but still dark and stormy. I love the Oregon Coast and sure hope to return, wotj maybe just a touch milder conditions.
