RULE 1: The best seats are not the closest ones to the track. Get seats back some distance, up high if possible.
We were in the 4th row back from the track, right near the end if the starting grid. Looking through the fence at a shallow angle limits your viewing angle, and I'll bet the fence is heavier now. And being so close, with the cars going past around 200 mph, you couldn't see that much. Look straight ahead as a car goes by at race speed, and, other than the sound, you hardly notice it's passing. Most of my race photos were lucky shots, cars on pit lane, or caution laps.
