NEW! Natural Gas fills vacant house due to defective shut off valve

On June 26, 2012 at 13:56 hrs. the East Brunswick District #3 Fire Company was dispatched to 18 Dorothy Lane for gas leaking from the dryer. Upon investigation it was learned that a gas pipe for the dryer was leaking natural gas. The house was vacant and was on the market for sale. There was no dryer in the laundry room. Lt. Kevin Umbach shut off the gas at the meter because the dryer gas line shut off valve was defective. The house was ventilated by opening the doors and windows. PSE&G responded to the scene as did the East Brunswick Police Department. The realtor was advised by PSE&G to replace the dryer gas line shut off valve before the main gas line could be turned back on.
